The feed in tariff that the government has implemented means that you get paid premium rates by the energy supplier for any excess electricity you put into the system. Estimates suggest that in twenty five years you could make thirty five thousand pounds on this, and that's on top of money saved on your own energy bills.

Also, if you're not looking at long-term investment, you can get solar panels installed for free by several companies. They take the feed in tariff profits, but you get hundreds of pounds of free electricity, which is a sweet deal.
