At most weddings, there are tables that may have name cards or special place settings. No matter how the bride and groom decide to decorate their seating arrangements, it is understood that the tables would look bare without wedding centerpieces. Though most traditionally, there would be a flower arrangement on each table, there are plenty of nontraditional options that will serve as a piece of unique decor and will make a great conversation piece.

A good replacement for flowers for anyone who does not particularly want to go this route is a candle arrangement. This can be taken in a number of directions. The size of the candle can be played with, ranging from an arrangement of various tealights to one large candle at the center of the table. The color and scent of the candle can also be handpicked to make for a pleasant conversational atmosphere.

Decorators also have the option of filling clear containers with scented or non-scented balls. There are scented gelatin balls available, which come in many colors and, like candles, will give the room a nice, subtle aroma. To achieve the desired aesthetics, flowers can be situated on top. If the scent seems to be a bit much, pebbles are also great for filling a clear container because they come in many colors -- even marbleized -- and are aesthetically pleasing.

Then there is the possibility of using a cupcake pedestal. These can come in any color as well, and also provide the versatility of allowing the decorator to choose what kind of cupcake is displayed and how it is decorated. This idea works well because it can serve as an appetizer or dessert so the guests do not get hungry. In addition, it is also unique and nontraditional, so it will help to make the event memorable and set it apart from the rest.

Needless to say, the possibilities in terms of wedding centerpieces are endless. Whether you want to stick with traditional items of decor for aesthetic purposes or to choose something unique so that your wedding will be memorable, it is important to make sure that this item is representative of the wedding. Remember, it will be used as a conversation piece and a piece of the decor for the entirety of the night.
